The clip ( African. Kliprivieren , English. Klip River ) is a river in southern Africa that flows through the Republic of South Africa in the province of Gauteng . It is the main waterway of Johannesburg and one of the largest tributaries of the Baal River [1] .

Description
The Klip River originates among gold mines south of the city of Krugersdorp , flows southeast through Soweto and southern Johannesburg, then turns south and flows through Meerton. The clip flows into the Vaal River near Three Rivers. The clip is included in the river system Clip → Baal → Orange [2] . High water on the river is observed in November - February (summer) [1] .
The largest tributary of the Klip is Langkuilspruit.
The river is very polluted by urban sewage, the lack of a maintenance infrastructure allowed waste to flow into the river daily, which reduces the quality of drinking water and leads to outbreaks of various diseases [3] .
Canoeing is practiced on the river.
According to the name of the river, a railway station and several streets in South Africa are named [4] .
