Story

The protagonist of the film, Dorian Gray , reinterpreted as a pumped-up handsome man, evokes the spirits of six homo-and bisexual artists and, with their help, tries to give an ethical assessment of the Toronto police raid on the toilets used for anonymous sex . Each of these spirits creates its own small pseudo-documentary film novel. Thus, Yukio Mishima's film is entitled “Artistic Reading of Inscriptions on the Toilet, ” by Frida Kahlo , “Controlling Sexuality by Society,” and Sergei Eisenstein , “Organized Tour of Toronto's Most Savory toilets.” In the seventh short story, Dorian himself turns out to be a double agent from parts of the royal mounted police [3] .

Criticism

The film attracted significant attention from critics. So, John Champaign considered Grayson's use of historical persons as characters through the prism of Nietzsche 's The Genealogy of Morality, and Bataille's topic of toilet sex was “useless waste” [5] . Chris Striyer saw in the film criticism of society’s attempt to control sexuality, expressed in police raids, and in the organization of the film as several short stories "shot" by different characters, as the polyphony of sense formation and sexuality [6] .
