Biography

Sperry Jones was born on October 4, 1939 in Oklahoma City . Since childhood, fond of many sports. In 1961, she became an AAU water polo champion . In 1965, as a student at the University of Michigan , won the state championship in cross-country athletics . Later she became interested in canoeing and was trained in a kayak club in Orlando . She married Jack Rademaker, who also engaged in rowing, and later acted under the name of her husband.

Thanks to a series of successful performances in 1968, she was granted the right to defend the honor of the country at the Summer Olympics in Mexico City — together with her younger sister, Marcia Jones , the bronze medalist of the previous Olympiad, started in the standings of double kayaks at a distance of 500 meters — failed to qualify at the preliminary stage, taking fourth place, but by the consolation race still made it to the finals, where eventually showed at the finish of the seventh result, giving the winning West German crew Annemarie Immerman and Roswitha Esser more than six seconds.

After the Olympics, Rademaker continued to take part in various rowing regattas and subsequently visited many national-level competitions. So, in 1973, she became the champion of the USA in marathon rowing among canoe-twos, and in 1974 received bronze in the same discipline. In the next five years, several more times she climbed the podium of national marathon competitions, won the rowing tournaments with her husband Jack for the mixed-pair program. She remained an active athlete until 1987, in recent years she was engaged in triathlon and table tennis - she won more than 400 medals of various values ​​in various sports in her long 25-year sports career.

Died January 31, 2005 in the statistically isolated area of Florel City , Florida [1] [2] .
