Content
History
The Order of the Companions O.R. Tambo was established on December 6, 2002 and is named after the South African politician, a fighter against Apartheid, the central figure in the African National Congress of Oliver Reginald Tambo .
The order is awarded in three classes to foreign citizens as a sign of appreciation of their merits in promoting the ideas of peace, cooperation, international solidarity and support.
The order may be awarded posthumously.
Degrees
The order has three classes:
- in gold - the supreme companion. It is handed over to the heads of foreign states, in exceptional cases - to the heads of government. The holder of the order can use post-nominal letters SCOT .
- in silver - the Grand Companion. It is handed over to the heads of foreign governments, state ministers, judges of the Supreme Court, chairmen of legislative bodies, state secretaries, diplomatic representatives with the rank of ambassador. The holder of the order can use the GCOT post-nominal letters.
- in bronze - Companion. It is handed over to deputies of legislative bodies, diplomatic representatives with the rank of envoys, senior officers. The holder of the order can use the post-nominal letters COT .
Description
The insignia of the Order of Companions O.R. Tambo consists of four elements:
- A badge made of metal according to class on a neckband.
- A miniature badge made of metal according to class on the chest strap.
- Outlets in the form of a sign made of metal in accordance with the class.
- A wooden ceremonial staff.
The badge of the order is an oval medallion symbolizing the eye of a snake, in the center there is a round four-section pupil.
The ribbon of the order is silk moire white with a gray pattern in the form of a round four-section pupil.
