11th Mrkonichi Light Infantry Brigade

The 11th Mrkonichi Light Infantry Brigade ( Serb. 11. mrkoњњћka laka peshadiisk brigade ) is an infantry unit of the Republika Srpska Army , which was part of the 30th Infantry Division ( 1st Krainsky Corps ). The brigade was officially formed on August 2, 1992 , by order of the General Staff of the RS Army of June 16, 1992 . Before the formation of the brigade, in the structure of Mrkonich’s defense there existed - the Territorial Defense Unit , the Banja Luka mortar company and the scouts of the 30th Infantry Division , formed in April 1992 . 1992

In the early years of the war, the Mrkonichi brigade fought for the city of Klyuch all May, after which it relocated to the city of Mrkonich , where it fought for it during June during the Croatian-Bosnian offensive.

During spring and summer, the first infantry battalion held positions on the field of the Serbo-Roman front. On August 12, the third battalion was again attacked and suffered heavy losses. On September 13, shortly after the start of the Croatian operation Mistral, the battalion, together with the brigade, took up positions around Mrkonic Grad . During the Croatian operation “Southern Turn”, the battalion defended the villages of Bjelajce, Liskovitsa and Magaldol. After 27 days of stubborn defense, the battalion did not receive any instructions and was supposed to go to the defense line near the villages of Shekhovtsi and Triyebovo, but because of the constant advance of the Croatian forces, they had to leave for the Mala Manyache area. After the brigade was withdrawn from the region of Mrkonich Grad, the second battalion took up the line of defense, between the villages of Parnice, Previle and Djevojka, to deter the Croatian troops. The battalion together with the brigade left their positions only on October 10, and took up positions between the city of Vrbas and the village of Suryan, where he remained until the end of the war.
