Aircraft History
Learjet 40 is based on the Learjet 45 with a 60 cm shortened fuselage. The aircraft has two Honeywell TFE731-20AR engines, better known as “AR” engines. The aircraft is designed based on the best performance of the Learjet 31 business class model and improved Learjet 45 comfort and control performance.
A prototype Learjet 40 aircraft completed its first flight on August 31, 2002, and the first production aircraft left the factory and completed its first flight on September 5, 2002. The aircraft was put into operation in January 2004 [2] .
An upgraded version of the Learjet 40XR was put into operation in October 2004. This modification has increased take-off weight, cruising speed and rate of climb. The parameters were changed by upgrading the engines to the TFE731-20BR version, better known as “BR” engines. The ability to replace “AR” engines with “BR” is provided by the manufacturer at the request of the owners.
