Rui Fernando da Silva Calapes Pereira Bento ( port. Rui Fernando da Silva Calapez Pereira Bento ; born January 14, 1972 in Silves , Portugal ) is a former Portuguese footballer who is known for playing for Sporting , Boavista and Portugal . Member of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta .

Club career

Bento is a graduate of Silvish and the Lisbon Benfica . In 1991, as part of the latter, he made his debut in the Sangrish League . At the end of his debut season, Rui moved to Boavista , where he spent the next ten seasons. With the club, he won the Portuguese Cup , and also helped the team win the championship for the first time in history. Bento played over 250 matches in all tournaments for Boavista. In 2001, he moved to the capital's Sporting . In the first season for the new club, Rui won the Cup for the second time and won the Portuguese championship. In 2004, he completed his professional career and became a coach.

International Career

In 1991, as part of the Portuguese youth team, Bento won the home world youth championship .

On November 20, 1991, in the 1992 European Championship qualifying match against Greece, Rui made his debut for the Portuguese national team [1] .

In 1996, Bento as part of the Portuguese Olympic team took part in the Olympic Games in Atlanta . At the tournament, he played in matches against the teams of Tunisia [2] , USA [3] , France [4] , Brazil [5] and twice Argentina [6] [7] .
