The women's fencing team competition at the 2016 Summer Olympics was held on August 11 at the Carioca Arena 3 . The competition was attended by 9 teams.
Olympic medals in this discipline have been played for the fifth time since the 1996 Summer Olympics . The Russians were able to win bronze medals after failing at the London Olympics , where the team took 4th place, losing 1 shot in the semifinals to the Chinese team and 1 shot in the fight for bronze to the US team.
In the finals of the tournament, the Romanian team took revenge from the Chinese team for the defeat in the final of the World Cup in Moscow in 2015 and won gold awards.
