Career
At the international level, Ku Pong Chan made his debut in 2014, when he won bronze with the team at home Asian games . In 2015, at the World Championships in Copenhagen, together with the team, the Korean became the world champion, and also excelled in the tournament of mixed duets.
At the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Ku Pon Chan took 6th place in the preliminary round, gaining 681 points. In the team championship, together with Kim Woo Jin and Lee, Sung Yun did not leave any chances to the rivals, becoming the Olympic champion.
In a personal tournament in the first two rounds with the same score 6-0 defeated Slovak Boris Balash and Briton Patrick Houston . In the semifinals, to defeat the American Ellison, the Korean again needed an additional arrow, but in the decisive match with the Frenchman Walladon, Ku Pon Chan confidently won with a score of 7-3, becoming the absolute champion of the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
