Description
Small, short-winged beetles , body length 2.7–2.9 mm. The main color is dark brown to black (sometimes the central part of the elytra and the legs are reddish-brown). The pubescence is yellowish gray, long and dense. The pronotum width is 1/5 less than the width of the elytra, the length of the elytra is also larger. 7th – 9th antennal segments strongly transverse, and 5–6th segments slightly transverse. Antennae 11-segmented. Forelegs 4-segmented, middle and hind paws 5-segmented (formula 4-5-5). The species was first described in 1906 by the American entomologist Thomas Casey ( Thomas Lincoln Casey, Jr. , 1857-1925) based on materials from the USA [2] , and its valid status was confirmed during an audit conducted in 2008 by Canadian entomologists Jan Klimashevsky ( Jan Klimaszewski ; Laurentian Forestry Center, Ontario , Canada ) and Reginald Webster [1] .
