Tylzha ( Tilzha ; Latvian. Tilža ) is a settlement in the Balvi region of Latvia . The administrative center Tylzhinskoy parish . It is located at the regional road P48 ( Karsava - Tylža - Dublukalns ). The distance to the town of Balvi is about 40 km [1] . Near the river Tylzha. According to the data for 2007, 662 people lived in the settlement [2] .

History
The settlement was founded around 1909 as the village of Kokoreva . In 1926, received the current name in honor of the river. In Soviet times, the town was the center of the Tilzhsky village council of the Balvi district . The state farm “Tilzha” was located in the village [1] .
The village has a volost board, a secondary school, a boarding school, a kindergarten, a post office, a cultural center, a library, a museum of local lore and four churches (Orthodox, Catholic, Lutheran, Baptist).
