Biography
Lee was not distinguished by high results in his youth; among his peers, he was far from the leaders in the country. After leaving school, he abandoned training for several years and concentrated on studying at the University of Sheffield Hollam. In 2007, he graduated with a bachelor 's degree in media communications. Uncertainty with a further life course forced Lee to return to training in the last year. Under the leadership of John Wood, he managed to improve his personal record by 1,500 meters to 3.44.83 after 5 months of not very intensive work.
Lee decided to try his luck in the United States in the hope of reaching a new level of results. He sent emails to several trainers at various universities. Among those who responded was Joe Franklin of the University of New Mexico at Albuquerque . It was to him that the Briton decided to go. As time has shown, it was the right choice, a career restart was a success. Lee improved his results every year at distances from 1,500 to 5,000 meters. In 2009 and 2010, he became the NCAA champion in the 1 mile race [1] , received a call to the England national team at the 2010 Commonwealth Games , where he finished 19th in the 5000m race.
In 2012, he completed his training in sports management and moved to Ann Arbor , Michigan , to coach Ron Warhurst. The collaboration did not help Lee, and after 2 years of stagnation, he returned back to Franklin [2] . And again he managed to make a breakthrough in the results.
In 2014, he first won the national championship indoors at a distance of 1,500 meters. A year later, he became the silver medalist of the European Championships in a 3000-meter premise , losing only to naturalized Kenyan Ali Kae .
In 2016, he participated in the 3000-meter running finals at the Indoor World Championships and 1,500 meters at the European Championships .
