Poems were written by the Vologda poetess Olga Fokina (born 1937) in the 1960s and were not intended for the song [1] . In 1965, the poem was published in the collection "Day of Poetry" [2] , and in 1966 - in the journal "Culture and Life" [3] .

According to composer Vladimir Semenov, one day he saw a small collection of poems by Olga Fokina in the store. Flipping through the pages of the collection, Semenov drew attention to the words "People have different songs, and mine is one for centuries," something caught him in these lines. Having composed the composition, Semenov showed it to the composer Sergey Dyachkov , who led Semenov to the head of the vocal and instrumental ensemble Stas Namin . So the record was recorded, in which (besides Sergey Dyachkov’s song “No Need” and Oscar Feltsman ’s song “Flowers Have Eyes”) the ballad “My Clear Star” was included.

The record with the song was released in 1973 with a circulation of almost seven million copies. After this, the legend was born that the song was dedicated to the stewardess Nadezhda Kurchenko , who died during the theft of An-24 in 1970.

According to Vladimir Semenov, the best performer of the song was the soloist of the student (at the time of the first performance) ensemble Alexander Losev (d. 2004) [4] .
