List of Miami Heat Head Coaches

Miami Heat is an American professional basketball club serving in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The club was founded in 1988 and joined the league in the 1988/89 season as a result of the expansion of the NBA, along with Orlando Magic , Minnesota Timberwolves and Charlotte Hornets . The team is based in Miami , Florida , and hosts home games on the American Airlines Arena , which was built in 1999. The main owner of the team is the American businessman Mickey Arison ^[1] .

Since the formation of the club to the NBA, 6 head coaches have worked in it. The first coach of the team was Ron Rothstein . Pat Riley worked as a Hit head coach for 11 seasons and is the club leader in the number of games played with the team in the regular season (849), in the number of victories in the regular season (454) and in the number of games played in the playoffs (26) . Eric Spoelstra is the club leader in the percentage of matches won in the regular season (70.7%). In 1996, Riley was named one of the 10 greatest coaches in the history of the NBA ^[2] , in 1997 he became the coach of the NBA of the year ^[3] , and in 2008 was introduced to the Basketball Hall of Fame as a coach ^[4] . Spoelstra is the only Hit coach who spent his entire coaching career on the same team ^[5] .
