Shkantar, Peter

Peter Škantar ( Slovak: Peter Škantár ; born July 20, 1982 in Kezmarok , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak slalom canoist . Together with his cousin Ladislav, he won many awards in rowing slalom. He was awarded one Olympic gold medal [1] , one gold medal of the World Cup and 7 gold medals of the European Championships. Four times became the silver and bronze medalist of the world championships, as well as six-time medalist of the European championships (1 silver and 5 bronzes).

Biography and sports career

He started rowing slalom along with his cousin Ladislav in their hometown - Kezmarok. Their first international tournament was held in 2004 (European Championship in Rowing Slalom in Skopje), and immediately succeeded. There they took 3rd place in the deuces, winning bronze. Already at the next European Championship, the Shkantary brothers won gold and bronze. In 2016, they took 1st place at the World Championships in Rowing slalom in Liptovsky Mikulas (Slovakia). Thus, securing a ticket to the Olympics. There, the Slovaks won gold in deuces in a canoe. Having taken 1st place at the Olympic Games, they set the record for Slovakia by winning the gold of the Olympics, World Championships, European Championships, Slovakia Championships for their careers. Prior to this, no one has yet set such an achievement.
