Distribution

Canada (Alberta, British Columbia, Quebec, Saskatchewan), USA (Alaska, Arizona, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico). Up to a height of 3230 m [1] .

Description

Small, short-winged beetles , body length 2.8 - 4.0 mm. The head is transverse. The main color is dark brown. Pubescence tawny. The body is densely punctured. Antennae 11-segmented. The front, middle and hind tarsi are 5-segmented (formula 5-5-5). The mandibular palpi consist of 4 segments (with the 5th pseudo-segment), and the labial palp consists of 3 segments (with the 4th pseudo-segment). Active from February to October. The species was first described in 1906 , and its valid status was confirmed in 2016 by Canadian entomologists Jan Klimaszewski ( Jan Klimaszewski ; Laurentian Forestry Center, Ontario , Canada ) and David Larson ( David J. Larson ) [1] [2] [3] .
