Miguel Shapiro Jünger , often MS Jünger ( Spanish: Miguel Chapiro Junger ; January 29, 1923 , Dresden - April 4, 2012 , Boston ) - American acoustic physicist of German-Jewish origin. Son of Joseph Shapiro .

A Spanishized name and a double surname consisting of the surnames of the father and mother, according to the Spanish custom, were obtained after in 1933 the Shapiro family fled from Germany, where the Nazis came to power, to Spain. However, already in 1936, due to the outbreak of the Civil War, the family had to move to France, and in 1941 to the USA.
He received a bachelor's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology , then a doctorate from Harvard University . It is considered one of the founders of structural acoustics, which studies the acoustic interaction of a fluid medium and plastic vibrating structures (including the material of ships and airplanes). He was one of the founders of Cambridge Acoustical Associates , a consultant in this area. He also worked with NASA , advised on the development of Atlas missiles. He is the author of the textbook Sound, Structure and Their Interaction ( English Sound, Structure and their Interaction ; 1972, together with D. Feith) - the first textbook in this area.
