Content
Story
Ellisor Carr ( Miranda Otto ) and Saul Berenson ( Mandy Patinkin ) visiting the Jewish Seder Pesach in the house of Ettay Luskin ( Allan Kordyuner ). Etai compares the slavery of Jews in ancient Egypt and the treatment of Jews during the Second World War in Germany.
Peter Quinn ( Rupert Friend ) tells Carrie Matheson ( Claire Danes ) that Sol ordered him to kill her. They make a scene and make a fake photograph of Carrie's death, and Carrie is preparing to go underground. Before doing this, Carrie insists on scouting the post office where Quinn gets her assignments to confirm whether Saul really wanted to kill her. After Quinn sheds her "proof" of Carrie's death in the mailbox, the killer appears, aiming at Quinn, and there is a shootout. Quinn is wounded, but survives while the killer is killed. Carrie picks up the killer's phone.
Allison and Saul are watching the operation in which General Youssef from Syria ( Igal Naor ) is lured to a fake clinic in Switzerland, where Youssef is looking for a kidney transplant for his daughter. Allison and Saul ultimately reveal who they are, warning Youssef that he can be arrested on the spot for war crimes, and they are trying to convince him to be their new Syrian president after the planned coup to overthrow the current president, Bashar al-Assad .
Korzenik (Sven Shelker) goes to the meeting, expecting to sell the documents to the CIA diplomat, with whom he agreed on the deal, but instead he is met by Krupin ( Mark Ivanir ), a Russian agent of the SVR . Krupin ordered Korzenik to be beaten until he gave out the location of additional copies of the documents he had made. Korzenik, as well as his girlfriend, located in their apartment, were killed. Numan (Atir Adele) later stumbles upon her body.
General Youssef gets on a plane to return to Syria, while Saul and Allison watch him off. Carrie dials one contact number, which she finds in the phone killer. Allison answers the call, asking in Russian: “Made?” After a few seconds, the plane with General Youssef explodes.
Production
The episode was directed by John Coles , which was his first directorial work in the series, and the script was written by co-executive producer Ron Nysuoner , which was his first script in the series after he joined the scriptwriters this season.

Reviews
Based on 11 positive reviews out of 12, the episode received a rating of 92%, with an average rating of 8.9 out of 10 on the Rotten Tomatoes website. The consensus of the site says: "" Why is this night not like everyone else? " finds various aspects of the intriguing plot of the fifth season of the “Motherland”, clinging to a place in the middle of an intensive, satisfactory contribution. ” [1]
New York Magazine's Price Peters rated the episode 5 stars out of 5, saying that he “surprised and delighted as any mid-season episode could do,” and that the relationship between Carrie and Quinn “was never so convincing. " [2]
Joshua Alston of The AV Club gave the episode an A-rating, stating that Carrie and Quinn’s presence on the screen brings the series together, and praised both Claire Danes and Rupert Friend to speak about Daines: “Scenes with her, as a video, it serves as a powerful reminder of why Danes is so widely praised for her performance. ” [3]
Cynthia Littleton of “ Variety ” gave a positive review, calling the plot with the participation of the CIA and General Youssef “remarkable for his discussion between world leaders, world terrorists ... and world politicians." [4]
