LogicMonitor Platform
The LogicMonitor platform monitors hundreds of network device types, as well as operating systems , database hypervisors , disk arrays , and cloud service providers ( Amazon Web Services , Microsoft Azure ). One or several software agents (the so-called "collectors"), which are installed in the client’s network, directly monitor the network. LogicMonitor platform collectors do not need to be installed on each host [6] ; instead, they use standard network protocols to poll devices on the network. Thus collecting data on the state of the network, they send them to the LogicMonitor data center . The data center processes them, evaluates them and, in the event of anomaly detection, sends alerts to subscribing clients (via email, SMS, or phone calls) [3] . LogicMonitor supports a variety of data collection methods: WMI , SNMP , Perfmon, JDBC , JMX , IPMI , read web pages , read logs, custom scripts, and various APIs provided by vendors ( NetApp , VMware , Citrix Xen , etc.) [7] . For maximum ease of working with the platform, it implements such functions as auto-detection and configurable alert thresholds [8] .
Business
According to CrunchBase , since its foundation in 2008 and until 2015, LogicMonitor has collected more than $ 13 million in venture capital in three rounds of funding [9] . According to Kevin Mc-Gibin, President and CEO of LogicMonitor, in 2012, LogicMonitor received another $ 21 million in funding from an unspecified source [10] . In 2016, LogicMonitor received funding of an unexpectedly large size: $ 130 million, from Providence Strategic Growth - a branch of a large investment firm Providence Equity Partners [5] [11] [10] . In an interview with Business Insider, Mac-Gibin commented on the choice of such an investor that refusing a traditional venture capital firm from Silicon Valley in favor of working with Providence will allow LogicMonitor to continue to implement its business model in the long term; at the same time, Mac-Gibin described LogicMonitor as a company that was not built according to the Silicon Valley start-up standard [10] .
