After receiving a doctorate in medicine in Leiden , he arrived in Amsterdam , where, thanks to his acquaintance with the famous anatomist, Ruysch took up the study of anatomy, in which he made many remarkable discoveries. So, for example, he described in detail the mentioned Fallopio folds of Kerkring (see Guts ), the so-called Vasa vasorum y horses, that is, vessels that feed the vascular trunks, and indications of the existence of venous flaps. In the same way, he belongs to the merit of the study of the human embryo and the development of the latter's skeletal system. He published several studies about water in Amsterdam and about amber .
