Pons was not a professional troubadour . He was just a knight who, as he himself said, liked that the ladies from Occitania praised his writings. There is evidence that he participated in the battle of Cuenca ( 1177 ) under the command of King Alfonso I and later in the king’s speech against Count Raymond V from Toulouse .
His work consists of nine love compositions, four of which form a small cycle dedicated to a lady whose name is encrypted (con el senhal de On-tot-mi-platz). Although, like all troubadours, he writes in the Occitan dialect, a few Catalan words can be found in his verses. The fact is that this was the norm among Catalan troubadours, especially among Cerverí de Gerona.
