History
The village of Sankovo , consisting of 34 peasant households , is mentioned on a special map of the western part of Russia by F. F. Schubert in 1844 [2] .
SANKOVO - the village of the Sankovsky society, the parish of Shizhensky churchyard. The river Shizhna.
Peasant households - 33. Buildings - 63, including residential - 48. Tar and tanneries, 8 prussies and 2 small shops.
The number of inhabitants according to the family lists of 1879: 94 m. P., 99 g. P.; according to the parish records of 1879: 85 m. n [3]
The compilation of the Central Statistical Committee described it like this:
SENKOVA - a former owner's village on the Spur River, 33 yards, residents - 198; Volost board, chapel, shop, tannery. (1885) [4]
At the end of the 19th - beginning of the 20th centuries, the village administratively belonged to the Sankovsky volost of the 1st zemsky district of the 2nd camp of the Tikhvin district of the Novgorod province .

Occupations of residents - agriculture, forestry. The river Shizhna. Chapel, zemstvo school, rural municipality board, medical assistant, petty shop. (1910 year) [5]
From 1917 to 1918, the village of Sankovo was part of the Sankovsky volost of the Tikhvin district of the Novgorod province.
Since 1918 - as part of the Cherepovets province .
Since 1924 - as part of the Progalsky volost.
Since 1927 - as part of the Shizhensky village council of the Tikhvin region.
In 1928, the population of the village of Sankovo was 382 people [6] .
According to 1933, the village of Sankovo was part of the Shizhensky village council [7] .
In 1961, the population of the village of Sankovo was 211 people [6] .
According to the data of 1966, 1973 and 1990, the village of Sankovo was also part of the Shizhensky village council [8] [9] [10] .
In 1997, 65 people lived in the village of Sankovo, Shizhensky volost, in 2002 - 56 people (Russians - 96%) [11] [12] .
In 2007, 51 people lived in the village of Sankovo of the Koskovsky joint venture , in 2010 - 36 [13] [14] .

The village is located in the northwestern part of the district on the highway 41K-021 ( Kayvaksa - Koskovo - Isakovo ).
The distance to the administrative center of the settlement is 9 km [13] .
The distance to the nearest railway station is Tikhvin - 60 km [8] .
