Biography

He was born on October 31, 1762 in the city ​​of Warmbrunn, now Cieplice-Slaskie-Zdroj in Poland. He was the son of Johann Christian von Horn (1722–1797) and his wife Maria Rozina, nee Becker (1724–1794).

From November 1774, Henry studied in the Berlin Cadet Corps and on March 25, 1778, was released from it into the infantry regiment von Luck (Nr. 53) with the rank of Corporal Corporal. He took part in the war for the Bavarian inheritance and on August 10, 1782 received the rank of lieutenant . From May 12, 1790, Horn served as adjutant to General Franz Andreas von Favrat ( German: Franz Andreas von Favrat ). During his campaign in Poland, he participated in the battle of Ravka and the siege of Warsaw, for which he was awarded the Order of Pour le Mérite on June 6, 1794.

Horn took part in the Russian campaign of 1812 with the rank of lieutenant colonel in the brigade of the Prussian auxiliary corps of General Ludwig York [2] and then in the Liberation War in Germany with the rank of colonel , taking part in the battles of Königsvarta and Bauzen . For the Battle of Leipzig he was awarded December 8, 1813 with oak leaves to the Order of Pour le Mérite.

In Magdeburg in 1814 he became a member of the Masonic lodge Ferdinand zur Glückseligkeit . From October 3, 1815, Heinrich Horn was commandant of Magdeburg ; from January 23, 1815 - a militia inspector in his administrative district. March 30, 1817 received the rank of lieutenant general . He died on October 31, 1829 in the city of Muenster.

Heinrich Wilhelm Horn was married three times:
