Shugailovo is a historical place in the Iznoskovsky district of the Kaluga region of Russia . Until recently, the village of the same name was a village .

Etymology

“Shugai” - in the dialects of the Kaluga province means “scarecrow”, and the root “scare” - “scare, drive away”, especially in relation to birds [1] . The ending “lo” has the meaning of diminutive [2] .

It is possible that the name of the village comes from the distorted calendar name Sugar [3] [2]

Physico-geographical position

It was located between the abolished settlements of Azarovo and Prudishchi, ~ 4 kilometers from the village of Shevnevo and ~ 2 km from the village of Pavlishchevo , on both banks of the Trubenka River .

History

XVII century

XIX century

1859-1863: According to the “List of Populated Places of the Kaluga Province”, Shugailovo is the ruler of the 2nd camp of the Medynsky district, by the Shan River (erroneously) on the right side of the Medyn – Gzhatsk highway. The village has 40 yards and 280 residents of both sexes.

XX century

1930s: The Shugailovsky Village Council was located in Shugailovo, which included neighboring villages, in particular Ponomarikha [4] [5] .

1938: Sergei Petrovich Kukushkin, a native of the village of Shugailovo, born in 1889, member of the CPSU (b), chairman of the Maxim Gorky collective farm, on March 25, 1938, under article 58 (paragraphs 2, 10, 11) he was sentenced to death [6 ] .

1942

January 26: 479 rifle regiment of the 222nd rifle division of the 33rd Army fought for the capture of Shugailovo [7] .

January 27: 1942, at 19:00, 479 joint ventures after a stubborn battle occupies Shugailovo. The enemy suffered losses and moved to the west, when the retreat the village was burned [8] . 479 joint venture reconnaissance in the western and south-western directions.

January 28: the commanders of 222 , 110 and 160 SD received combat order No. 042, Lieutenant General Efremov [9] .

According to this decree, the 222nd SD should stop the attack on the enemy and force march, under the cover of air defense and reconnaissance, move in the direction of Prudishchi, Shugailovo (3 km east), Shansky Zavod , Ivlevo , Bekleshi, Iznoski , White Stone, Zamytskoe , Fedotkovo , Dmitrovka , Losmino . The division was ordered to arrive in the Depreciation area by January 29th.

The commander of the 110th regiment was ordered to get a 1287 joint venture from the 222nd regiment and pulled him into the Shugailovo area along with the ski battalion located in Bekleshi. The task of the 110th SD is to cover the flank of the main grouping of the 33rd Army from the south and south-west of the line Shugailovo - Shansky Zavod - Glinyevo - Klins ( in ill. ).

According to the combat order No. 2 of the headquarters of the 110th division, the 1287th regiment, together with the 1st and 2nd batteries of the 971th artillery regiment, ordered the Shugailovo- Shevnevo line and prevent the enemy from penetrating from the south and southwest [10]
