The 1953 NBA Draft became the seventh annual draft of the National Basketball Association . The draft took place on April 24, 1953 before the start of the 1953/54 season . During the draft, the nine remaining NBA teams selected players from US colleges. The draft consisted of 19 rounds and 122 players were selected during it.

Ray Felix of Long Island University was selected under the first pick by the Baltimore Bullits Club. Ernie Back and Walter Dewkes were selected before the draft as territorial elections by the Philadelphia Warriors and New York Knicks clubs, respectively [1] . Subsequently, the three picks in the draft - Bob Hubregs , Frank Ramsey and Cliff Hagan - will be elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame. [2]
