Founded in 2009 in Moscow by Elena Masolova [2] , in the early stages, the company focused on the development and publishing of games for social platforms [3] . Despite the launch of the successful Domovyata project for social platforms in 2011, the company also decided to develop a mobile direction. Funds from venture capital investors were raised for business development, $ 1 million was received in the early rounds, $ 5 million was raised in round C in 2011 [4] , after which the first game for mobile devices, Robinson, was released.

In 2013, the head of Pixonic was taken by Philip Gladkov, soon a decision was made to concentrate efforts exclusively on the development of mobile projects and the company was restructured. In the same year, the Walking War Robots project was launched, which later became one of the highest grossing for the company [5] .

On September 30, 2016, Mail.ru Group was acquired, which bought back 100% of the company’s shares for $ 30 million [6] , while the new owners retained their operational independence and trademark.
