Biography

He began to do gymnastics at the age of five. Since 1976, he trained at the Dynamo Sports Club in Berlin . His younger brother Ulf Hoffman was also a gymnast. [1] In their youth, they lived in a boarding school during training at SK Dynamo in Berlin.

Career

In 1979, Hoffmann became a medalist in floor exercises , taking second place. At the World Cup that same year, his team finished fourth. The following year, they won a silver medal at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow . In those games, Hoffmann was seventh in the all-around. [1] Won the bronze medal on the parallel bars in 1981 at the European Championships. [2]

After resigning, he worked as a gymnastics coach and then as a teacher in Bad Sachs , Germany , where he committed suicide in 1997. [one]
