The 1951 NBA Draft became the fifth annual draft of the National Basketball Association . The draft took place on April 25, 1951 before the start of the 1951/51 season . During the draft, the ten remaining NBA teams selected players from US colleges. This draft was the last for the Tri-Citys Blackhawks team, which before the start of the season moved to Milwaukee ( Wisconsin ) and began performing under the name “Milwaukee Hawks” [1] . The draft consisted of 12 rounds and during it 87 players were selected.

Gene Melchiorr from the University of Bradley was chosen under the first choice by the Baltimore Bullits club, but he never played a single NBA game because of the scandal associated with rigging the results of matches in the student championship [2] . Meyer Skoog from the University of Minnesota was selected as a territorial choice in front of the Minneapolis Lakers draft club [3] .
