Other titles

- The title of Duke Abrantes was created in 1753 by the King of Portugal, Jose I, for Anna Maria de Lorena (1691-1761), who became the 1st Duchess de Abrantes. In 1756, after the death of her brother, she inherited the title of 3rd Marquise de Abrantes. Her daughter, Maria Margarita de Lorena , 2nd Duchess de Abrantes and 4th Marquis de Abrantes (1713-1780), became her successor. After the death of the latter in 1780, the ducal title was interrupted.
- The title of Duke d'Abrantes was created in 1809 by the French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte for his divisional general Jean Juigno (1771-1813), who led the French conquest of Portugal and the capture of Lisbon. After the fall of Napoleon, Laura Junot , wife of General Junot, used this title as a literary pseudonym.
