Biography
Mary Smith was born on June 21, 1967 in Califon, New Jersey . Started playing softball at the age of five. [3] Studied at Voorheeys High School in Glen Gardner, New Jersey. There she set school records for victories, outs and unbundled balls. She continued her studies at the University of Oklahoma, receiving a bachelor of science degree in medicine. At the same time, her Earned run average in baseball was 0.75. [one]
July 21, 1986, while Father Smith drove her home with a maxillofacial surgeon consultation, sleeping Smith was thrown out of the truck when his door accidentally opened at a turn. She was thrown into a roadside pole: as a result, part of her ulnar bone was severed and the triceps of her left arm and other muscles and nerve endings were torn (and the left arm was the delivery). The accident seemed to put her in the face of a terrible trauma and the end of her usual life. “It seemed to me that I had lost myself,” she said. This, however, was not at all the end of her sports life: after 9 months of intensive rehabilitation, she returned to the sports scene as a pitcher on the team at the University of Oklahoma. With this, she began to throw the ball at 3 km / h faster than before the accident. [3]
Smith not only attracts softball: besides him, she also plays basketball and field hockey . [3]
In 1996 and 2000 , she performed at the summer Olympics as part of the US team, both times she was awarded a gold medal.
