Kelsiev, Alexander Ivanovich

Alexander Ivanovich Kelsiev (died in 1885 ) is a Russian anthropologist.

He worked as a curator of the Moscow Polytechnic Museum , was a secretary of the Society for the dissemination of technical knowledge.

He wrote the manual "The Practice of Anthropometry" ( 1878 ). In 1877 , he made an ethnographic expedition to remote areas of the Kola Peninsula , carried out anthropological measurements of the Sami , on the Ponoi River for the first time on the Kola Peninsula, conducted archaeological research. The collection of Sami household items and labor collected by Kelsiev was shown at the Anthropological Exhibition of 1879 in Moscow, a report on this was published in the Proceedings of the Society of Lovers of Natural History, Anthropology and Ethnography ( 1879 , v. XXV).

Kelsiev also owns the review “Figures of Different Ancient and New Peoples” ( 1880 ), the description of the “Kurgan cemetery near the village of Mytina” (“Antiquities”, edition of the Moscow Archaeological Society, 1885 , vol. X).
