History

The Governor’s Orchestra of St. Petersburg was created on the basis of a jazz orchestra conducted by Nikolai Minkh on May 10, 1945, by the All-Union Committee on Radio and Radio Broadcasting under the USSR SNK as the Variety Orchestra of the Leningrad Radio Committee. [3] [4] Initially, the orchestra consisted of 29 musicians. One of the tasks of the collective was the propaganda of pop music by Soviet composers. By the end of 1945, the orchestra had 120 such works in its repertoire. Later, the orchestra changed its name several times, invariably remaining on the Leningrad radio, and then on the Leningrad (Petersburg) television and radio, until in 2002 it was transferred to the Administration of St. Petersburg , changing its name to the modern one. The orchestra performs solo concerts and in mixed concerts with other groups and performers, writes music for films and programs, CDs, participates in international competitions and festivals.

Throughout its history, the orchestra has performed with such famous performers as Laureates of the Stalin Prize, People's Artist of the USSR Yekaterina Korchagina-Aleksandrovskaya and Honored Artist of the RSFSR Boris Freidkov , People's Artist of the USSR Yuri Yuryev, People's Artist of the RSFSR Alexandra Halileeva, Olga Nesterova, Zoyeom Rozhdestvenskaya , Zoyoem Rozhdestvenskaya and others. Its conductors were famous masters: Alexander Vladimirtsov , Vakhtang Zhordania and Anatoly Kalvarsky .

Many artists began their creative career with this particular team, for example, Eduard Gil .

In 1978, the orchestra was led by People's Artist of Russia Stanislav Gorkovenko . Under his leadership, more than 80 CDs with musical works were recorded, many of which were created specifically for the collective.

On the basis of the Governor’s Orchestra, it is planned to create the Center for Musical Culture named after P.I. [one]
