History
Founded as a German farm Oktoberberg . Until 1941, the farm was part of the Mariental canton of the Volga Germans Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic [2] . The Oktoberberg farm was first marked on the administrative and economic map of the Volga Germans Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic in 1934 [3] .
On August 28, 1941, a Decree of the Presidium of the USSR Armed Forces on the resettlement of Germans living in the Volga region was issued. The German population was deported , the farm, as well as other settlements of the Mariental canton, was included in the Saratov region . On the map of the Red Army 1941 was designated as the village of Krasnoyarsk [4] . Subsequently renamed the village of Chkalovo .
Physico-geographical characteristics
The village is located in the Low Volga region , within the Syrt Plain , belonging to the East European Plain , on the left bank of the Bolshoi Karaman River (opposite the village of Kaluga ) [5] , at an altitude of 78 meters above sea level [6] . Soils are meadow chestnut [7] .
By road, the distance to the administrative center of the rural settlement of the village of Lyubimovo is 9.8 km, the regional center of the urban-type settlement Stepnoye is 36 km, to the regional center of the city of Saratov - 130 km [8] .
