Biography
He studied at the University of Abo (now Turku ) in Finland , then part of Sweden.
Returned to Stockholm in 1777 . He was the favorite of King Gustav III , with whom he wrote the tragedy "Queen Christina". His tragedies and poems are written partly under the influence of the experiences of French classicism and suffer from conventionality and rhetoric; in some of them, however, he managed to free himself from French influence. The most famous of his tragedies are: “Gustav Vasa”, “Gustav-Adolf”, satirical poems: “Mina Cöjeu” (“My taunts”), “Ljusets fiender” , the patriotic song “Cantaten den 1 Januar 1789” , etc. His collections The works of Samlade Skrifter were published in 1796 , 1860 and 1884-1885 ( Uppsala ).
