Description
Small flies with a length of about 1 mm (0.81 - 1.05). The main color is brown and black with yellow markings. The forehead and the back of the head are yellow. Antennae black. The first submarginal cell of the wing is closed and triangular, the antennal stylus, is placed subapically on the second flagellomer. Mesonotum flattened dorsally. Dichoptic eyes. The species was first described in 2002 by the American dipterologist Neil Evenus (Center for Research in Entomology, Bishop Museum, Honolulu , Hawaii , USA ). The specific name is given by the outwardly thin and fragile type of the holotype and paratypes and is derived from the Latin words “de” + “resistens” (fragile, fragile) [1] [2] [3] .
