Description
Small flies with a length of about 1 mm. The head, chest and abdomen are brown (chest with yellowish marks, the abdomen is laterally yellowish from below). The first submarginal cell of the wing is closed and triangular, the antennal stylus, is placed subapically on the second flagellomer. Mesonotum flattened dorsally. Dichoptic eyes. The species was first described in 2002 by the American dipterologist Neil Evenhus (Center for Research in Entomology, Bishop Museum, Honolulu , Hawaii , USA ) using the holotype from Brazil. The specific name is given in the Hawaiian word “kake” = “Jack” in honor of Jack Hall, who helped in [1] [2] [3] .
