Geography
Teijo is located north of the center of Hanoi, between West Lake and the Red River . In the south, it borders with the Badin region, in the south-west with the Kauziai region, in the west with the Baktyl region, in the north with the Dongan district, in the east with the Longbien district.
The freshwater West Lake is the largest in Hanoi, its shores, lined with gardens, shrines, attractions, hotels and restaurants, are a popular place for recreation and entertainment. According to one legend, the lake arose after the battle between Lac Long Kuan and the spirit of a nine-tailed fox . Another legend claims that in ancient times it was called the “Lake of the Golden Buffalo” (Hồ Trâu Vàng), in the XI century it was called “Misty Lake” (Hồ Dâm Đàm), and in 1573, at the behest of the emperor - modern name. Here is the Chancock Pagoda - the oldest pagoda of the country, built in the VI century and now located on a small peninsula near the southeastern shore of the lake [3] . Next to this pagoda in the Badin region is the Temple, one of the four sacred temples of ancient Hanoi.
Thannh Street ( Vietnamese. Thanh Niên ) , laid along the dam, separates the West Lake from the small Chukbat Lake ( Vietnamese. Trúc Bạch ) , located in the Badin district. On these lakes coot and other waterfowl live, lotus grows.
The large Hotei Park (Công viên Hồ Tây), attracting visitors with its water park, attractions, restaurants, cafes and souvenir shops, is set up on the north coast of West Lake. Along the southern shore of the West Lake, from Byoy Market along Thuykhue Street to Kuanthan Temple, many old quarters with ancient shrines and historical rural gates have been preserved [4] .
Many canals and shores of lakes are polluted with garbage, which contributes to floods and reproduction of mosquitoes [5] .
