Epimelet or epimelet ( dr. Greek ἐπι-μελητής, ἐπι-μελητοῦ - “trustee, leader, manager” ) - an official in Athens , who differed from other archons in that in most cases he was appointed only for a certain specific purpose, often not by the people, but by separate fila ; he did not have the right to preside over the trial, and was not usually subjected to a trial before taking office ( dr. Greek δοκιμασία ). It is often impossible to draw a line between the epimelet and the archon, for example, at Aeschineus in “Against Ctesiphon” ( dr. Greek “Κατά Κτησιφώντος” ), where a sharp difference is not noticeable. In the proper sense, epimeletes (curators) are trustees of phil ( dr. Greek έπιμεληταί των φυλών ). There were two kinds of epimelets, which by all conditions were valid officials: 10 port epimelets ( dr. Greek έπιμεληταί τοΰ εμπορίου ) - port police; And 10 shipyard overseers ( dr. Greek έπιμεληται τών νεωρίων ) are shipyard overseers.
