The early years
Erwin Johnson was born in New Orleans ( Louisiana ), studied at the Jonesville Block School, in which he played for the local basketball team. In 1993, he graduated from the University of New Orleans , where for four years he played for the New Orleans Privates team, in which he spent a successful career, gaining 1608 points in total (2nd place in the history of the team), 1287 rebounds (1st ) and 294 block shots (1st), moreover, for two consecutive years he helped his team win the regular championship of the American South conference (1990-1991), and in 1993 the regular championship of the conference Sun Belt [1] .
NBA Career
He played in the center position. In 1993, he was selected by the NBA Draft under the 23rd number by the Seattle Supersonics team. He later played for the teams Denver Nuggets , Milwaukee Bucks and Minnesota Timberwolves . In total, the NBA spent 13 seasons. In 1993, he was recognized as the basketball player of the year among the students of the Sun Belt conference . In total, during his career in the NBA he played 845 games in which he scored 3473 points (an average of 4.1 per game), made 5148 rebounds , 387 assists , 471 interceptions and 1087 block shots .
In 1991, Erwin Johnson became the champion of the Summer Universiade in Sheffield as part of the US team .
