Biography
Born July 28, 1897 in St. Petersburg. Shortly after birth, he moved to Moscow with his family. In 1918 he entered the Moscow State University, which he graduated in 1923. After graduating from Moscow State University, academician Nikolai Zelinsky left a graduate at his place, where he worked until 1925. The difficult situation in the USSR forced him to emigrate to Poland and he was incredibly lucky, because he settled in Warsaw. From 1925 to the early 1980s, he worked at the Institute of Experimental Biology in the Department of Biochemistry, from 1945 he was in charge of this department. At the same time, since 1945 he was elected professor at the University of Lodz, since 1955 he headed the Department of Animal Physiology at the University of Warsaw.
He died on January 3, 1985 in Warsaw. Buried there.
Personal life
Vladimir Nemerko was married to Stella Nemerko (1906-2006), a Polish biochemist who managed to live to be 100 years old.
Scientific work
The main scientific works are devoted to the biochemistry of insects.
