Keysler, Wilhelm Friedrich von

Wilhelm Friedrich von Keisler ( German: Wilhelm Friedrich von Keussler ; 1777 - 1828 ) - Livonian teacher and mathematician .

He was a secretary under General Moreau during one of his campaigns in Germany . In 1804 he arrived in Riga , where he worked as the director of public schools. He placed many articles on his specialty in the journal I. Kh. Kaffka “Nordisches Archiv” ( 1808 and 1809 ), in the Fama für Deutsch-Russland by A. Truhart ( 1806 and 1807 ), “Oekon. Repert. für Livl. ”(III et al.),“ Zeitschrift für Literatur und Kunst ”by G. Merkel ( 1811 ) and others. Von Keisler's book“ On Animal Magnetism ”( German “ Ueber den Lebens-Magnetismus ” ; Riga, 1816 ) and others. It is also known for an experiment on measuring the length of the Riga meridian ( 1818 ).
