Quintillia is the name of the patrician family ( gens Quintilia ), the most famous branch of which is the Quintilia of Vara . Despite its ancient origin, this family did not have much influence. The only one of the kind who received the post of consul was Sextus Quintilius Var , consul in 453 BC. e. There were many praetors and other small state officials in the family. The last representative of the clan, Publius Quintili Var , died in the year 9 in the battle in the Teutoburg Forest , and therefore the August exclamation is known: “Quintili Var, return the legions to me!” ( Latin Quintili Vare, legiones redde! ” [1] ) .
