The Duke de Ijar is a Spanish hereditary title created by King Ferdinand the Catholic on April 16, 1483 for Juan Fernandez de Ijar (c. 1419–1491), the lord of the barony of Ijar.

In 1599, the Spanish crown confirmed the ducal title for Juan Francisco Fernandez de Ihar, 4th Earl de Belchite (1550-1614), a descendant of Juan Fernandez de Ihar, 1st Duke de Ijar.
On March 16, 1718, the King of Spain Philip V granted the title of Grand Isidro Francisco de Silva, 7th Duke de Ijar, 7th Duke de Aljag, 7th Duke de Lesère.
For almost 400 years, the Dukes of Ihar also bore the titles of the Dukes of de Allag and de Leser .
The name of the ducal title comes from the name of the city of Ihar in the province of Teruel (autonomous community of Aragon ).
