Biography
Estonian by birth. Was born in. Dorpat (now Tartu , Estonia ). In 1872-1877 he studied at the Düsseldorf Academy of Arts with E. Gebhardt and E. Dücker , then in the late 1870s - in Paris in the studio of F. Cormon .
Until 1882 he worked in Düsseldorf , where he was a member of the Düsseldorf Society of Aquafortists . Since 1883 he lived and worked in St. Petersburg . Since 1884 - an honorary free associate of the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg.
He participated in exhibitions since 1884.
