Upon completion of his education in Berlin, he was appointed professor (since 1837 ) of mineralogy, geology and paleontology in Tübingen . Quenstedt's main scientific works relate to the study of the Swabian Jurassic, for example: Das Flötzgebirge Württembergs ( 1851 ), Der Jura ( 1857 ), Handbuch der Petrefaktenkunde (3rd ed. 1882 ); Petrefaktenkunde Deutschlands ( 1849 et seq.) And Die Ammoniten des schwäbischen Jura ( 1884 ). In addition, Kwanstedt published Epochen der Natur ( 1861 ) and several works on mineralogy: Methode der Krystallographie ( 1840 ); “Handbuch der Mineralogie” (3rd ed. 1877 ; in the Russian translation “The Initial Foundations of Mineralogy”, St. Petersburg, 1861 ); "Grundriss der bestimmenden und rechnenden Krystallographie" ( 1873 ).
