Story
Prisoner Katiresan (Katyr) escapes from prison in Calcutta and leaves for Chennai , from where he plans to fly to Bangkok . However, his plans change when he meets the beautiful Ankita at the airport. That same evening, he sees how unknown people shoot a truck with a driver. Hastening to help, he discovers that the driver is his exact copy. Using this, he changes his documents with him and sends him to the hospital under his name, and he becomes Jivanandam (Jiva). A new name brings him to a nursing home, where Jiva wards live. Upon learning that one of them is Ankita's grandfather, he decides to linger there.
Over time, he learns the story that brought Jiva and the elderly to Chennai. Jiva, a hydrologist student, came to his native village to find groundwater and use it for irrigation. However, the next day everyone in whose lands water was found was killed, and their possessions were sold to the owner of the plant, Chiragu. Jiva tried to figure it out, but was arrested by the police. In order to gain media attention and free Jiva, six villagers were forced to commit suicide.
Katir, whose mother also once went into the city due to lack of water, decides to continue the work of Jiva with her own methods. He intimidates the judge bribed by Chirag, and makes the industrialist understand that he can always get to him. The court decides the case in favor of the village, however, since Chirag presents many signatures for the construction of the plant, gives them five days so that they can prove the opposite. However, all those who allegedly signed up for the plant work under the contract abroad and cannot return to their homeland in the short term. Then Katyr takes a decisive step, together with the elderly they block the water pipes and prevent the flow of water into the city for several days.
At this time, Jiva manages to get out of the prison, where he went instead of Katir, and return to Chennai, but here he is caught by the people of Chirag.

The Prakash Upadhaya of the noted that the film “underscores our ignorance of the challenges that farmers face and the changes they face due to globalization . The director shed light on one of these issues by mixing all the commercial elements in the film with Vijay in the title role ” [2] . M. Sugant of The Times of India wrote that “the hero occupying a place and solving the problems that his double faces is a centuries-old construction in our films”, also noting the echoes of previous paintings by A. R. Murugados as Ramana (2002) and (2012) [3] . Baradwaj Rangan of The Hindu concluded that “part of the problem with Dagger is that his worries are too heavy, too real to suit the frivolous,“ I'm too cool to bother ”Vijay's character. Another problem is characterization. Without disclosing it, the film enters a slightly dangerous zone, where we begin to feel that it exploits the terrifying reality of farmers for the sake of a few ” [4] . Anupama Suramanyam from Deccan Chronicle gave the film 2.5 points out of 5, considering that at times it seems too moral. [5] S. Saraswati of noted that the film conveys an important social message, despite the abundance of masala moments condoning Vijay's showing as a folk hero [6] . NDTV found an overdose of melodrama in the film, noting that it could do without a heroine and a love line [7] . decided that the picture cannot be in the same league as The Secret Weapons, but remains a well-made entertainment with a powerful message [8] .
