Dubovoy, Aron Mikhailovich

Aaron M. Dubovaya ( March 10, 1921 , Tiraspol - December 15, 2007 , Israel ) - Moldovan Soviet dragon player, drafts coach, judge. Master of Sports of the USSR, judge of the All-Union category (1965).

Biography

Born in Tiraspol in the family of Mehla Moiseevich Dubovoy (1896, Topaly - 1987) and Riva Leybovna Kucher (1895, Chubovka - 1975). He began to engage in drafts in 1934 in the Tiraspol City House of Pioneers and Schoolchildren under the guidance of I.Ye. Kacherov [1] . At the first tournament dedicated to the education of the MASSR , he took second place, then became the champion of Moldova among the youth in the first championship in 1940. Prizewinner championships All-Union Council DSO Spartak.

From 1940 he served in the Soviet Army, was trained to torpedo in the scuba diving squad in Leningrad . During the Great Patriotic War, he fought in the Baltic Fleet, was seriously wounded and was disabled by the war [2] . After returning to Tiraspol after the war, he organized a drafts section at the junior sports school where he taught drafts. He worked as chief accountant of the Tiraspol Sports Committee.

Among pupils of A. M. Dubovoy is the USSR champion in correspondence and ten-time champion of the Moldavian SSR in international drafts Rafail Zdorovak , 31-time champion of Israel and 10-time champion of Moldova Alexander Shvartsman , prize-winner of the junior tournament in the Netherlands Alexander Kireev, silver winner of the USSR championship among Junior (1965) David Gaiman. For decades, he was a member of the Presidium of the Moldavian Drafts Federation. Founder of the annual Friendship of Peoples drafts festival in Tiraspol (1967-1998). The first in Moldova was awarded the title "Judge of the All-Union category" (1965) [3] .

In December 1992, he moved with his family to Israel [4] [5] . The memorial tournament in Russian drafts in memory of A. M. Dubovoy was held in the Tiraspol sports school-3 [6] [7] . Honorary National Master of Israel (2005).
