Yevgeny Yaroslavovich Choliy ( Ukrainian Є Evgen Choliy , fr. Eugène Czolij ; born 1959 , Montreal ) - Canadian lawyer of Ukrainian origin, activist of the Ukrainian diaspora, since 2008 President of the World Congress of Ukrainians .

Son of immigrants; Father Yaroslav Choliy in 1944 at the age of 14 left the village of Cherche (now Ivano-Frankivsk region ) with his family.
He graduated from the University of Montreal . Member of the Quebec Chamber of Advocates since 1982 , Senior Partner at Lavery, de Billy Law Firm, Corporate Law Specialist [1] .
He began his social activities in the Union of Ukrainian Youth , in 1983-1989. headed its Montreal branch, in 1989-1992. - Canadian National Branch, 1992-1996 chairman of his global governance. Since 1993, he was a member of the board of directors of the World Congress of Ukrainians, since 2003 he was the first deputy president, and in 2008, at the IX World Congress of Ukrainians in Kiev, he was elected president and re-elected in 2013.
Rewards
- Order of Merit, III degree (Ukraine).
- The anniversary medal “25 years of independence of Ukraine” ( Ukraine , August 22, 2016) - for a significant personal contribution to strengthening the international authority of the Ukrainian state, popularization of its historical heritage and modern achievements, and on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence [2] .
