Biography

In 1938 he entered the Engineering and Economics Institute in Kharkov, a year later he was drafted into the Red Army , served in the Leningrad Military District , infantryman, then - radio telegraph operator, gun commander on the BT-7 tank of the 6th Tank Regiment of the 3rd Division of the Leningrad Military counties.

He participated in the Great Patriotic War , graduated from the Rybinsk Tank School , fought in tank units on the North-Western, Western, 2nd Belorussian fronts as part of the 23rd separate guards tank Yelninsky Red Banner Brigade . In December 1944, a tank named after Hero of the Soviet Union Ilya Kaplunov was received from the Komsomol members of Saratov .

After a severe wound, he lost his leg.

After the war, while still in the hospital, he graduated from the first course of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University . He graduated from the faculty in 1950, graduate school there (1953). Candidate of physico-mathematical sciences (1953, topic of the dissertation “Torsion of an elastic parallelepiped for a given law of distribution of tangential stresses on the bases”).

Since 1953 he worked at Moscow University, the youngest (since 1957 - senior) research associate in the department of elasticity theory.

Since 1960, he worked at the Institute of Mechanics of Moscow State University , a senior researcher, from December 1961 - head of the laboratory of optical methods for studying stresses, from 1988 - head of the laboratory of elasticity and plasticity, from 1981 to 1992 - deputy director. Doctor of physico-mathematical sciences (1968, the theme of his doctoral dissertation "Study of the photoplasticity method").

Laureate of the USSR State Prize (1980, for developing methods for calculating the stress state of structures). Laureate of the Lomonosov Prize of Moscow State University (1992, together with G.Z. Sharafutdinov for the series of works “Development of polarization-optical methods of mechanics of inelastic and composite materials”).

Honored Researcher, Moscow University (1997). Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation (1999).

Scientific Interests

Mechanics of a deformable solid. He made a significant contribution to the development of polarization-optical methods, in particular, to the photoplasticity method, and established the laws of photoplasticity for a number of materials. One of the first to apply polarization-optical methods to solving problems of crack mechanics. For the first time in the country, synthesized optically sensitive fiber composite materials. He proposed a method for converting stresses from model to nature, which does not require special material. Using variational methods, I solved a number of spatial problems in the theory of elasticity.

Author and co-author of more than 80 scientific papers. Scientific adviser of 12 PhD theses.
