Club career
Varela is a graduate of the capital's Benfica . On September 22, 2012, in his match against Aves , he made his debut for the stunt team in the Segund League [3] . In early 2016, Bruno on a leasehold moved to the Spanish Real Valladolid . On June 4, in his match against Mallorca , he made his debut in the Segund [4] .
In the summer of that year, the contract with Benfica ended and Varela joined Vitoria from Setubal as a free agent. On August 21, in a match against his former club, Benfica, Bruno made his debut in the Sangrish League [5] .
In the summer of 2017, Bruno returned to Benfica, replacing Ederson who switched to Manchester City [6] . On August 5, in a duel for the Portuguese Super Cup against Vitoria Guimaraes , he made his debut for the main team [7] , and also won his first trophy at the club level.
International Career
In 2012, Bruno as part of the youth national team of Portugal took part in the European Youth Championship in Estonia . At the tournament he was a substitute and did not enter the field.
In 2013, Varela took part in the junior European Championship in Lithuania for the second time. At the tournament, he played in matches against teams of Spain [8] , the Netherlands [9] , Lithuania [10] and Serbia [11] .
In the same year, as part of the youth team, Varela took part in the youth world championship in Turkey . At the tournament, he was a substitute goalkeeper and did not play a minute.
In 2016, Bruno, as part of the Portuguese Olympic team, took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . In the tournament, he played in matches against the teams of Argentina [12] , Honduras [13] , Algeria [14] and Germany [15] .
In 2017, as part of the youth national team of Portugal, Varela took part in the European Youth Championship in Poland . At the tournament, he played in matches against the teams of Serbia [16] , Spain [17] and Macedonia [18] .
